How to Submit to an open call
This page will go through the steps required for submitting to one of our exhibitions.
These steps are listed on all our calls for submissions, but here we will go into a bit more detail, with some images and videos to illustrate better. Please make sure you read through the steps and understand them before submitting.
-
Firstly, choose which exhibition you wish to submit to. There are usually two for each month with different themes, select which one you would like to submit to and curate your submission based on that theme. (You can submit to both exhibitions for each month, but please make sure that you submit the images separately so there is no confusion).
Sizing Requirement

Where to find file info using Adobe Bridge (maybe different depending on what version you use)
-
Make sure your images meet our sizing requirements. We require images to be at least 3000 pixels on the shortest side at 300ppi in order for us to print. If you submit images smaller than that, please make sure that you have a 3000 pixels version or know how to resize your image to that size or it may not be accepted.
-
Next choose up to 8 images that you wish to submit. You don't have to submit 8 images, but you can't submit more than 8 images.

Close up of file info on Adobe Bridge
-
Please note, we cannot resize your image for you.
-
If you don't know how, you can either find tutorials online, or consider submitting a different image instead.
File Naming
-
Next step is making sure you name your files correctly for submission. We ask that participants name their files using their own name, in the format Firstname-Secondname.
-
As an example if your name is John Smith, your files should be named, John-Smith1, John-Smith2, etc.
-
If you do not name your files correctly, it could result in your files getting lost or misplaced. Please only use your name, do not include image titles or any other information, this can be added elsewhere in you submission.
-
One of the easiest ways to rename your files is to use Adobe Bridge.
There you can use a feature called "batch rename", all you need to do is select all the images you wish to rename, click "Tools" then "Batch Rename" in the drop down menu. Here you can name your files as required and Adobe Bridge will name all files selected in this manner.
-
This may differ depending on which version of adobe bridge you are using.
-
If you do not have Adobe Bridge you may have to rename your files individually.
-
Please also make sure your images are JPEG files. We can only accept jpegs.
Sending Submission
-
Finally is submitting your images. We recommend sending your images via WeTransfer or Dropbox. Both are free to use, you can send all your images at once and you can add additional information in the "message" section of the transfer (see video).
-
Please do not send your submission via email, this tends to compress your images meaning we do not get the full sized image and you will need to resend your submission.
-
Please send your submission altogether at one time, do not send individual images over one at a time as this fills your inbox with individual images and can also lead to images being misplaced as they are not all being sent together.
-
Also, only send your submission once, do not send your submission mulitple times as this can cause confusion.
-
When using WeTransfer for example, you are able to add a message to your submission.
-
Here you can state which your name, where you're from/living and/or your nationality and which exhibition you are submitting to.
-
Any other additional information such as your social media or website links.
-
Make sure you state which exhibition you are submitting to. If we don't know which exhibition you are submitting to, we can't take it into consideration.
-
All submission should be sent to submissions@glasgowgalleryofphotography.com
-
Submissions send to any other email address will not be accepted.
After Submission
-
If you are selected to participate or to be on the reserve list, you will be notified via email.

-
If you have been selected and you wish to participate, you can supply us with any addtional information at this stage if you haven't already done so, such as titles of works, the series it comes from, where it was taken, website links and social media handles.
