Glasgow Gallery of Photography Reshapes Its Future: Bidding Farewell to Merchant City Space.

Dear friends,

We want to take a moment to share an important and update with you—one that marks a pivotal step in our journey and reflects the continued growth of the Glasgow Gallery of Photography.

After thoughtful consideration, we made the decision to say goodbye to our beloved Merchant City gallery space on Glassford Street. This location has been a vibrant home over the last few years, It has been a privilege to welcome so many of you through its doors, and we will always cherish the memories made there, However it was always going to be a short stay.

This is not the end—it's a transformation.

As we close the chapter on Merchant City, we are turning our full attention and energy to our larger gallery space at High Street, where we have the opportunity to expand our exhibitions, programming, and impact. This move allows us to focus on creating an even more immersive and ambitious platform for showcasing photographic talent, both local and international. With greater capacity and flexibility, our larger space is perfectly suited for the evolving needs of our community and the art form we champion.

We believe this shift reflects our core values. It’s about giving artists and audiences more: more space, more connection, and more opportunity to explore the powerful language of photography.

To our followers, thank you. Your support has made this evolution possible. Every visit, every kind word, every shared post has helped us build something meaningful. We hope you’ll continue this journey with us as we embrace the exciting future ahead.

Our expanded gallery will be the heart of new collaborations, innovative exhibitions, and unforgettable experiences. Starting in July with The British Journal of Photography "Female in Focus" Exhibition. We can’t wait to welcome you into this next chapter.

With heartfelt gratitude and forward-looking optimism.
