At the Glasgow Gallery of Photography, we are always striving to ensure that your experience with us — from discovering new photography to receiving your prints and books — is as smooth and positive as possible. With that in mind, we would like to update you on some upcoming changes to our postage and delivery services.
Moving from DPD Back to Royal Mail
After several months of using DPD, we have made the decision to move back to Royal Mail as our primary delivery provider.
While DPD has offered many benefits, the international shipping landscape has become increasingly volatile and subject to constant change. As a small, independent gallery, the time and resources required to continually navigate delivery issues, customs complications, and service disruptions began to have a knock-on effect on our day-to-day operations. This included time taken away from exhibitions, artist support, and gallery programming — the things that matter most to us and to our community.
Royal Mail allows us to offer a more consistent and manageable service, better aligned with the scale and needs of an independent gallery like ours. We believe this change will help us operate more sustainably while continuing to deliver orders as reliably as possible.
International Shipping & Orders to the United States
We are also pleased to share that we will be resuming shipments to the United States.
However, we want to be fully transparent about how international tariffs and customs charges work. Any tariff payments, customs fees, or import charges applied to an order are the responsibility of the purchaser. While these charges are often small (sometimes as little as around a dollar), they are set by the destination country and are outside of our control.
We will always do everything we reasonably can to help mitigate these charges where possible, including accurate documentation and careful packaging. That said, if a purchaser chooses not to pay the required tariffs or customs fees and the item is subsequently lost, returned, or destroyed by customs authorities, we regret that we will not be able to offer a refund. In these cases, the stock is typically unrecoverable.
Thank You for Your Understanding
We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these changes. The global shipping environment remains challenging, particularly for small organisations, and we are committed to being as open and honest as possible about how these realities affect our operations.
If you have any questions about postage, delivery options, or international orders, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us before placing an order. We’re always happy to help.
Thank you, as always, for supporting the Glasgow Gallery of Photography and independent arts organisations.
